The California Chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (CCASMBS) is for the members of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) who practice in California or any other state and want to be members of CCASMBS.

Purpose and Mission


The purpose of the society is to advance the art and science of bariatric surgery by continued encouragement of its members to:

  • Pursue investigation in both clinic and the laboratory.
  • Interchange ideas, information and experience pertaining to bariatric surgery.
  • Promote guideline for ethical patient selection and care.
  • Develop educational programs for physicians, paramedical persons, and lay people.
  • Promote outcome studies and quality assurance.
  • Promote outcome studies and quality assurance.
  • Discuss issuses pertinent and specific to California.
